As a small charity, we believe it is really important to be transparent with our supporters and share regular updates about our projects in East Africa. Whether you donate, fundraise, sponsor a child or read our monthly newsletter, your support makes a huge difference.
This blog outlines some programme highlights from the first quarter (Q1) of 2025. You may have noticed that our programme structure has changed slightly, so I will also provide some details about our 3 programme pillars: Child Protection, Access to Education and Family Strengthening.

Child Protection
In response to increased cases of child abandonment, abuse and neglect, our Child Protection Programme combines a range of targeted activities for children and teenagers, a community-based abuse prevention approach, support with social justice cases, and an emergency response to safeguard children in imminent danger that includes alternative care provision.
Here are some highlights from Q1:
256 children were newly enrolled in our Saturday Kids Clubs
713 children enjoyed games, snacks and fruit, movies and a Bible lesson at our Saturday Kids Clubs
61 children took part in football training
560 girls attended our Girls Support Groups
45 girls counselling sessions were conducted
516 period products were supplied to girls aged 12-17
5 children were admitted to our Ewafe home
12 children were successfully reintegrated with loving families
15 family follow-ups were conducted
21 social justice cases were reported and assessed
35 safeguarding officers were recruited across 10 areas
31 court hearings were attended

Access to Education
Education is key to breaking the cycle of poverty, yet globally more than 64 million children of primary school age remain out of school, leaving them without basic literacy and numeracy skills. We are addressing this by providing free education for vulnerable children from their early years of schooling, right through to university sponsorship.
In Q1 of 2025:
77 children were enrolled onto our Encouraging Education Project
99 children received daily nutritious meals
13 children were enrolled onto the Child Sponsorship Project
1 meeting was held for parents of newly sponsored children
We opened our brand new Early Childhood Development Centre, offering enhanced facilities and resources for children at our Encouraging Education Project in Naguru

Family Strengthening
Our programmes work holistically to reduce poverty, vulnerability and unemployment in communities, and empower families with a sustainable income through vocational training, business skills and food security.
In Q1 of this year:
52 students successfully graduated from our Tailoring and Knitting Project
69 new students enrolled onto our Tailoring and Knitting Project
11 students undertook training through our Carpentry Project
1 community member was supported with an income generating activity
