Location: Remote. Home based, UK, within reasonable travelling distance of Birmingham for occasional meetings.

Time commitment: 3-7 hours per week. Minimum commitment 2 days per month, including preparation, Board and Finance Sub-Committee meetings, and occasional work with the CEO and Head of Finance. Five to six Board meetings annually, mostly virtually, plus one annual in-person strategy day.

About the role...
The role of the Treasurer is to oversee the financial health of the charity and ensure the financial literacy of the organisation at Board level. Working closely with the Head of Finance and the CEO, the Treasurer will advise on all financial matters including regulatory compliance and will chair the finance sub-committee. They will lead the Board of Trustees on financial strategy, planning, risk management and reporting.
What we're looking for...
We are looking for a Treasurer who combines strong financial expertise with a genuine passion for making a difference to vulnerable children and families.
The successful candidate will have professional accountancy experience, ideally within a charity or voluntary sector setting, with a good understanding of audits, budgeting and financial reporting. They will be able to think strategically and provide sound, independent judgement, while also paying close attention to detail and ensuring good financial governance.
Excellent communication skills are essential. Our Treasurer will need to be confident translating and explaining financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues, Trustees and other stakeholders, and using their expertise to support informed decision-making at Board level.
We are looking for someone who is organised, self-motivated and able to work effectively remotely. They will be a collaborative team player, with the energy, flexibility and commitment to give the time required to fulfil the role effectively. They should be able to think creatively and innovatively, while demonstrating impartiality, fairness and discretion.
Our treasurer will need to understand the duties and responsibilities of charity trustees and be committed to our vision, values and ethos. Most importantly, they will share our passion for improving the lives of vulnerable children and families.
