It is extremely difficult for poor families in Uganda to afford to send their children to school and as a result many children miss out on a vital education. At Kids Club Kampala we believe that education is a basic human right and is essential to breaking the cycle of poverty, and that all children deserve the chance to learn and to have a bright future.
Our Encouraging Education project allows children who would otherwise have no access to education to have the opportunity to learn through taking part in informal education classes. These classes are taught by Ugandan teachers and run from Monday to Friday every day throughout the year, in different slum communities across Kampala. This not only helps children to gain a good education and behavioural skills, but also gives children a safe place to go every day, away from the dangers of slum life. After class each child gets a hot, nutritional meal, which means they won’t go hungry either.
Alongside this, we also run a School Sponsorship programme, where the neediest children in the communities are identified and given access to formal education and the opportunity to go to school. Our School Sponsorship programme aims to match children with Child Sponsors who pay their school fees, enabling a child to go get a good education and enhance their opportunities for the future. If you would like to help make a difference in a child’s life through giving them the gift of an education, then we would love you to become a Child Sponsor with us.
