Uganda at 50

Yesterday Uganda celebrated 50 years of Independence! Huge celebrations were held all over the country, and on Monday evening Kids Club Kampala's Choir and Dance Group perfomed at the Ugandan National Theatre!

The kids have been practising really hard over the last few weeks, and they performed really well and made us all so proud. This was such an amazing opportunity for the children, and we would like to say tank you to all the KCK volunteers who have given up their time to help train them.

The children at KCK love to sing, dance and perform for each other. This summer, we held a special Music Gala Day, where children from the music and dance groups from different centres came together to perform songs and dances and to showcase their talents. A great day was had by all!

We would love to hold more events such as this, and also to provide dance costumes and music instruments for centres that don’t have them. Our Music and Dance projects are not only a great way for the children to be encouraged in their talents and to express themselves, but also provide them with a safe environment where they can keep out of trouble and enjoy themselves.

It is amazing to think how far Uganda has come in the last 50 years. Who knows what will happen in the next 50? We are raising up leaders of the next generation and encouraging the children we work with to make good decisions and choices. You never know, they could be the future leaders of Uganda!
