Last Thursday was World Malaria Day. Malaria is the leading cause of child mortality in Africa, yet it is completely preventable through simply sleeping under a mosquito net.
A life-saving mosquito net costs just £3, yet many families in Uganda cannot afford one.
So on Saturday, in honour of World Malaria Day, we held a big function at KCK Bunamwaya centre. We used this day as an opportunity to raise awareness about the problem of malaria in Uganda, and we invited all the parents from the community to attend and spoke to and discussed with them about the issue of malaria.
We finished the day by presenting all of the children at KCK Bunamwaya centre with a brand new mosquito net! Over 100 children received a net and this will make such a huge difference in their life.
This day was great fun for all the children involved, there was lots of games, songs and dancing and most of all the children really loved receiving a mosquito net each!
We would like to say a huge thank you to TTF and to everyone who donated towards this day and the giveaway of the mosquito nets, this wouldn't have been possible without you!
If you would like to buy a mosquito net for a child, please get in touch with us or you can donate. Just £3 can save a life!
