2016 is already shaping up to be a very exciting year for Kids Club Kampala, and this month has seen the launch of a brand new Encouraging Education project in Namuwongo slum community!
Our Encouraging Education project currently runs in Katanga and Kivulu slums every day, providing out-of-school children with free education and a hot meal every day. This not only helps children to gain a good education and behavioural skills, but also gives children a safe place to go every day, away from the dangers of slum life.
We believe that education is a basic human right, and it is essential to breaking the cycle of poverty. We are passionate about supporting children’s education, and believe that all children deserve the chance to learn and to have a bright future. Namuwongo is one of Kampala’s biggest slums, and the majority of children there do not have access to education and cannot afford to go to school. We know that our Encouraging Education project makes a huge difference to children’s lives. We would love to see the Encouraging Education programme running in all of the communities that we are working in, and we are thrilled to see the launch of Namuwongo Encouraging Education project this month.
We have just finished building the classroom, and it is nearly ready for the children to move in. Our teachers and social workers have just finished their training sessions, and lessons will begin next week. We are so excited about this opportunity, and look forward to seeing hundreds of children’s lives changed and this whole community impacted through providing free education where it is most needed.
